International Human Rights Lawyer Amal Clooney to Speak at WorkHuman 2018

December 19, 2017 Emily Payne

Amal Clooney is celebrated for her work as a compassionate human rights lawyer and equality advocate. From years of international work, she has no shortage of personal stories of giving a voice to neglected and exploited groups. She continues to work toward this life mission each and every day, which aligns perfectly with all that WorkHuman represents.

This is why we’re thrilled and honored to announce that Amal Clooney will be joining us at WorkHuman 2018 in Austin, Texas, as our latest keynote speaker.

Amal has spoken extensively about following her passions, which has led her to a successful and impactful career, and incorporating humanity in her everyday work. “If you are a lawyer and you want to take on easier cases, you can prosecute traffic violations or something. You’d have a very high rate of success, and you probably could sleep more easily at night. But that’s not what drives me. I want to work on cases that I feel the most passionate about,” she said in a 2016 interview with NBC.

Amal’s impressive career has been built on a foundation of giving a voice to those who don’t have one. She has advocated for neglected and exploited groups on an international level, and represented Armenia in the European Court of Human Rights in a case concerning denial of the Armenian genocide.

“You don’t just turn the page without people being held to account,” Amal says. In a recent speech in New York, she urged the U.N. to not let ISIS get away with genocide.

As a barrister at Doughty Street Chambers (London), a visiting professor at Columbia Law School’s Human Rights Institute, and co-president of the Clooney Foundation for Justice, Amal deals with the personal stories of injustice and abuse through her work every day. This heartfelt, passionate work validates the importance of bringing humanity back into everyday life, which includes the everyday workplace.

Register for WorkHuman to hear Amal, as well as Ashley Judd, Ronan Farrow, Simon Sinek, Adam Grant, Dr. David Rock, Dr. Brené Brown, and more to be announced soon, discuss how we can work throughout all industries to bring humanity back to the workplace and cultivate a more human and compassionate corporate culture.
