At Workhuman, we don’t like to miss a good celebration – especially one that’s about empowering the women who make up half our workforce and advocating for greater gender parity. Today isn’t about men vs. women. It’s about collaborating together to start a conversation that raises awareness for basic human rights.
This year’s International Women’s Day theme focuses specifically on #balanceforbetter – how creating gender balance in the boardroom, government, media, and across our communities is a business issue, one that is essential to a thriving economy.
Yesterday we welcomed bestselling author and Workhuman speaker Cy Wakeman into our Framingham, Mass. office to moderate our employee-led panel discussion on #balanceforbetter. One of the main takeaways from the conversation came from Cy: “Balance is a verb, not a noun.”
Achieving balance is not a something organizations can check off a to-do list and then move onto the next line item. It’s a constant work in progress to re-evaluate and re-assess your recruitment, onboarding, development, recognition, and compensation practices to ensure all humans are appreciated and respected for the value they bring to your organization.
