Are You Saying Thanks?

November 17, 2014 Mike Wood

Just in time for Thanksgiving – the annual holiday where you not only gorge yourself on food and family, but give thanks for what you have in your life – Facebook recently launched a new way for people to thank their friends.

Logging on to their special #SayThanks campaign tool, people can select a friend and send them a quick video that highlights their relationship, and what they’ve been through together. As Facebook puts it, “Your friends are at the core of your Facebook experience, and we are always looking for new ways to help you celebrate those friendships.”

We’ve seen in the latest Workforce Mood Tracker report that friendships are an essential part of workplace happiness. In fact, 91% of us spend more than 30 hours a week with work colleagues and 95% have made a friend at work. Friends at work help us weather rough seas, and celebrate tough climbs.

It doesn’t take sitting through an episode of 30 Rock or The Office to see that the relationships we make at work are critical to the quality of our lives. So let’s take a moment this Thanksgiving to take a step back and honor those co-workers who have made an impact in our lives. Shoot them a fun video on Facebook.

Then, take a look at how you can use social recognition and the Power of Thanks to use these connections to create a best place to work and drive business results.
